> Oyinlola, who hinted that his predecessor, Bisi Akande, did not
ief him verbally on certain grey areas in his handover note, said his (Oyinlola’s) administration was yet to be presented with a clear picture of the total indebtedness of government.<
> The governor, however, explained that the state lost over N220 million to the distressed Savannah Bank, while his administration inherited over N5.5 billion as outstanding expenses.<
> Oyinlola also berated the immediate past administration for the unnecessary restructuring of the public service, adding that the state civil service commission would be made to explain its role in the exercise, which had made the public service despondent and disillusioned.<
> Oyinlola, who promised to run an open administration with probity and accountability as its watchword, explained that efforts were on to examine critically the 2003 budget of the state with a view to making it conform with the programme of his administration.<
> He said: “We shall build a virile and responsive public service by putting in place measures that will guarantee and re-invigorate it.” <
> The governor implored the new lawmakers to work as a team to build a strong and virile state that would satisfy the people’s aspiration.<
> He admonished: “You should conduct your proceedings in a friendly
and orderly manner and co-operate with the other arms of the government to
lift Osun State to greater heights.”
